    Christmas Islands is a haven of natural biodiversity and natural wonders. With about two thirds of the island being considered as a national park, one can witness the nature’s great wonders as one could find himself or herself in awe with the rich flora and fauna that the islands could offer.

    Known for the natural phenomenon of crab migration which could only be witnessed in Christmas Islands, one could see millions of crabs migrating from the forest to the coast to release their eggs with, after about a month, young crabs, and going back to the forest.

  • Weather

    Christmas Islands experience tropical weather. The monsoon winds come during the months of December to April that causes tropical cyclones that bring in a lot of rain and results to having rough seas. Considered as the wettest season are the months of February and March of each year. The rest of the year is typically the dry season with relative heat and humidity brought about by oceanic influence.

  • Getting There

    One can reach Christmas Islands in two ways:

    1. Via Air
    Travel by air starts at Perth, Australia where one can fly directly to Christmas Islands. There are domestic air transportations that can take one to the islands. Virgin Austrlia, Christmas Island Air and Evercrown Air Services can accommodate your travel requirement to Christmas Islands. Ask your local travel coordinator for trips going to Perth. One can also access Christmas Islands by air via Cocos Islands. There are also flights from some South East Asian countries.

    2. Via Boat
    There are no chartered ship or boat services going to Christmas Islands. There are however a number of people who come to the island through a yacht with the port of call at Flying Fish Cove and/or through a cruise ship which has Christmas Islands one of its stop off points.

    Being an Australian territory, English is widely spoken in Christmas Islands though there are residents who speak Chinese or Malay.
